An evening with Cindy and Craig Corrie 7-15-10

An evening with Cindy and Craig Corrie in the Bishop Barnwell Room, Student Union Building, BSU. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., presentation to begin at 7:00 p.m. Free

The Idaho Peace Coalition, Voices for Palestine and the BSU Cultural Center are pleased to present an evening with Cindy and Craig Corrie, the parents of Rachel Corrie (1979-2003). Israeli Soldiers killed Rachel while she was trying to protect a family’s home in the Gaza Strip.

This presentation by Cindy and Craig Corrie promises to educate and enlighten us all. The Corries will share their experiences attempting to bring justice to their daughter’s death, and in their struggle to eliminate oppression and injustice on a global scale.

Through the Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace & Justice, the Corries have worked tirelessly to bring people together in peaceful dialogue, with cultural exchanges and educational programs. Of their work they themselves say:

“Our leaders seem very parochial now, emphasizing the differences between people and pointing to “the other” with fear and disrespect. Through our projects, we hope to illustrate how much we have in common with one another and that our differences should be points of celebration rather than fear.”

Please come to this timely and informative presentation. This event is free and open to the public. There will be free parking in the Lincoln Garage. For more information please contact IPC Volunteer, John C. McMahon at 336-8823.

Dwight Scarbrough;
Colin and Ciarran Burch
Peacemakers

Colin and Ciarran have served on the IPC Spokes Council for the past two years and attended virtually every event we’ve hosted. They have tabled and leafletted many times and organized street protests, our poetry reading and many other actions. The IPC is much stronger because of their dedication.

Dwight took the initiative to establish an Idaho chapter of Veterans for Peace many years ago and he has spearheaded their efforts to resist the War on Terror and promote a new foreign policy direction. Dwight has spent thousands of hours building the Vets for Peace community, preparing materials, tabling, and protesting, and he is one of the most well-read peace activists around. Thanks Dwight!
